Hi! My name is Grace Streeter, and I am pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently in my senior year, and will be graduating in April 2023. I am originally from Chanhassen, MN, which is a suburb west of the Twin Cities. While I do love Minnesota, I have come to love living here in Bismarck, and I look forward to continuing to live in this area!
My three most defining characteristics are my Catholic faith, my friends and family, and my love of teaching and working with little children. All three of these characteristics have made me into who I am today, and I cannot imagine what my life would be like without them. When I am not in the classroom, I love to spend time with my friends, go hiking, swing dance, read books, and play the piano.
Ever since I can remember, I have loved working with little children. In high school, I loved babysitting them and watching them grow. However, I did not make the decision to become a teacher until the year before I came to the University of Mary. When I graduated high school, I was unsure of what I wanted to get my degree in, so I decided to take a gap year to assist a family friend in her Preschool Montessori Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classroom. It was through this experience that I came to realize that teaching and working with little children was the place in which I was the happiest. I loved guiding them in discovering the world around them and getting to witness them in their curiosity. I also enjoyed getting to know each student and their individual needs so that I could best help them to succeed in the classroom. I would always come home from that classroom feeling fulfilled and excited at what I had helped those children to accomplish. Because of this experience, I discovered that teaching preschool is my passion, and I cannot imagine doing anything else!
